Nothing leaves your Mac.
Playback is a native screen studio that records, edits, and exports entirely on your Mac. Zooms, captions, redaction, export — every frame is computed on your Apple silicon, so there's no upload step, no processing queue, and no server on the other end.
- No account
- There's nothing to sign in to. Download the app, open it, record.
- No telemetry
- Playback doesn't watch you work. The only report it can ever send is a diagnostic you explicitly choose to share — and it never includes your recordings.
- No upload
- Preview and export render locally in Metal. A finished demo is a file in your Movies folder, not a link on someone else's server.
- No transcription service
- Captions come from Apple's Speech framework, on-device. Your narration is never shipped off to be transcribed.
- No cloud relay
- AI agents drive Playback over MCP through a local socket. Commands go straight from the agent to the app — never through our servers.
- Offline is fine
- Turn off Wi-Fi mid-session and nothing changes. Even your license verifies on-device.
When the network is involved
